Today I apply for my passport for my mission trip to Kenya. It is one more step towards obedience to God.
Abram (who later was renamed as Abraham) was told by God “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you” (Gen 12:1). Notice, that God did not tell Abram where he was going. But, God told him that he would show him. Abram had to put his trust in God’s word. He was blind to the location but not the results.
If he would go God promised Abram “I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Genesis 12:2-3) With every command from God comes a promise of blessing. And this promise has extra significance because it points to Christ being the blessing Abram gave to the world. Abram knew his blessing however I don’t know mine.
God has stirred my heart and is making a way for me to go and minister in Kenya. Though, I am not blind to my destination I am blind to the results. What this trip has in store for me I do not know. What I do know is the faithfulness of God. He has blessed me in my obedience before. He will do it again. Therefore, my faith is in what God has said and will obey and reap the benefits.
